Three family members tragically lost their lives in a road accident on the Ballari–Siruguppa State Highway in Karnataka’s Ballari district. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when their car veered out of control, hitting a roadside barrier and overturning. The deceased were identified as Prasad Rao from Nitturu village and two women who were traveling with him.
Two other family members sustained serious injuries in the crash and were promptly taken to the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) Hospital in Ballari for urgent medical attention. Doctors have described their condition as critical. The police revealed that the family, consisting of five members, was returning from a temple visit in Tamil Nadu when the accident happened.
Initial investigations point to overspeeding and the driver’s loss of control as potential causes of the tragic incident. Authorities also suspect that the driver might have fallen asleep due to early morning fatigue. Following the accident, the Siruguppa Police rushed to the scene for inspection, and a case has been registered at the Siruguppa police station with further investigations ongoing.
In a separate incident on October 7, three pilgrims lost their lives in Karnataka’s Koppal district when a private sleeper coach bus collided with a group of pedestrians on a pilgrimage to the Huligemma Devi temple. The deceased were identified as Annapoorna, Sharanappa, and Prakash, residents of Tallihala village in Gadag district. They were part of a larger group of 15 pilgrims.
Tragedy struck again on November 24 when four friends on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala met with a fatal accident in Kolar district. Their speeding car crashed into a flyover barrier and plunged into an underpass in Malur taluk, resulting in immediate fatalities.
