Three members of a family were brutally murdered with sharp weapons in Kusri village, Jharkhand’s Palamu district. The victims were identified as Vijay Bhuiyan, his wife Hewanti Devi, and their son Chhotu Bhuiyan. Their daughter, Mamta Kumari, was critically injured in the attack and is currently hospitalized in serious condition.
The incident, believed to be driven by superstition and suspicions of witchcraft, occurred after midnight. Police investigations have revealed that the accused, Ravindra Bhuiyan and Pramod Bhuiyan, had ongoing disputes with the victims over alleged black magic practices. Prior arguments and village councils attempting to resolve the conflicts had taken place.
Following the assault, the perpetrators fatally attacked the family members, leading to the deaths of three individuals on the spot. The Panki police station authorities swiftly responded to the incident, cordoning off the area and initiating a thorough investigation. The accused individuals are currently being pursued for their involvement in the crime.
A sense of mourning has enveloped the village, with a significant number of villagers and relatives gathering at the crime scene. The police, in collaboration with local residents, are actively working to apprehend all those responsible for the heinous act. The crime scene’s remote location, situated in a Maoist-affected area about 35 km from the police station, has necessitated heightened caution during the pursuit of the suspects.
