Farmers nationwide are celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s acknowledgment by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) with the prestigious ‘Agricola Medal’ during his Italy visit. This honor is seen as a proud moment for the farming community, recognizing the government’s efforts to improve farmers’ lives and incomes. Bharat Dighole, President of Maharashtra State Onion Producers Farmers’ Association, expressed joy and extended best wishes to the Prime Minister for this recognition.
In Pune, many farmers commended PM Modi’s forward-looking agricultural vision, praising his initiatives like modern techniques introduction and support schemes such as PM-KISAN. Haji Nazim Sheikh, a local farmer, highlighted the positive global impact when the Prime Minister discusses Indian agriculture during foreign visits. He emphasized that India’s agricultural sector is set for significant improvements under Modi’s leadership, with a focus on promoting coarse cereals and millets globally.
Haji Nazim Sheikh also lauded PM Modi’s efforts in promoting traditional staple foods like Bajra, Jowar, and Ragi on the global stage. He credited the Prime Minister for elevating India’s agricultural presence internationally, leading to the United Nations declaring 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets.’
