Several individuals lost their lives, and many sustained injuries in a significant explosion at a firecracker factory in Tonkkala, Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh. Survivors, some in critical condition, have been hospitalized, as confirmed by the police. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed sorrow over the incident and directed officials to investigate and provide support to the affected families.
The Chief Minister also instructed the provision of financial aid of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ensured free medical treatment for the injured, who have been transferred to Indore for advanced care. The explosion’s impact was so intense that it shook the entire vicinity, causing nearby residences to tremble.
Eyewitnesses described a scene of horror, with body parts strewn across the area, leading to chaos and fear among the locals. The factory suffered extensive damage, with a significant part reduced to rubble. Residents recounted the terrifying sequence of events, with screams and chaos prevailing as people rushed to aid those affected.
Prompt response from the police and fire brigade led to swift rescue operations and fire extinguishing efforts. Villagers also assisted in evacuating the injured, who were promptly taken to hospitals for treatment. This incident echoes a similar tragedy in February at a firecracker factory in Harda, where 11 fatalities and 149 injuries were reported in a massive blast.
