A tragic incident occurred in Gujarat’s Bharuch district when a wall collapsed at the under-construction World Trade Centre shopping mall site, claiming the lives of a father and his 21-year-old son. The collapse, triggered by heavy overnight rain, occurred at around 2:30 a.m. in the Ali Matariya Talab area of the city, crushing a nearby house.
Officials reported that four family members were inside the house when the wall gave way. While two women managed to escape or were rescued safely, the father and son were trapped under the debris. The fire brigade was promptly alerted, and rescue efforts were initiated.
Fire Officer Chirag Gadhvi of the Bharuch Municipality stated that the fire brigade, upon receiving the alert, swiftly responded to the scene with a rescue team. Despite efforts to save them, both victims were declared dead upon arrival at Bharuch Civil Hospital.
According to a local resident, heavy rainfall preceded the tragic incident, leading to the collapse of the wall onto the house. Devendra Vasava, President of the Bharuch Municipal Council, confirmed the incident and the loss of lives, emphasizing the immediate response of the rescue team.
Municipal authorities have launched an investigation into the wall collapse to ascertain the reasons behind the structural failure. The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed as of now.
