Woman cricketer Kranti Gaud’s father, Munna Singh, who was dismissed from his police constable job in 2012 for negligence during election duty, has been reinstated in the service. This decision was announced by senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang, highlighting the government’s support for sports personalities like Gaud.
Kranti Gaud, a member of the Women’s Cricket World Cup winning team, had appealed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to reinstate her father during a meeting in Bhopal last November. Gaud shared the family’s financial struggles following her father’s suspension, which led to her elder brothers taking up laborer and bus conductor jobs to support the family of six children.
Hailing from Ghuwara village in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, Kranti Gaud, aged 22, has been a key player in the Indian team’s pace attack since July. She excelled during the England tour and was acknowledged for her performance by Chief Minister Yadav, who promised to reinstate her father in the police department promptly.
Kranti Gaud, a right-arm fast bowler, played a significant role in the Women’s World Cup, securing 9 wickets in 8 matches. Notable performances include taking three wickets against Pakistan and two wickets against New Zealand. Her exceptional skills were also evident in the semifinal match.
