Fazil Nagar Assembly seat in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh will undergo a name change to Pawagarh, as announced by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The renaming aims to honor Jain Tirthankar Lord Mahavir and give the area a new identity. The Kushinagar district administration has already submitted a proposal for the name change to the Chief Minister’s office.
The Chief Minister, while addressing a gathering in Kushinagar, emphasized that renaming Fazil Nagar as Pawagarh would link the region to the legacy of Lord Mahavir and enhance its global recognition. He expressed that this change would attract visitors from all over the country and the world, preserving the cultural heritage of Pawagarh. Additionally, CM Yogi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 278 projects totaling over Rs 424 crore in Kushinagar.
Yogi Adityanath criticized previous administrations for prioritizing disorder over governance, highlighting the shift from the production of country-made pistols to BrahMos missiles for national defense under the BJP government. He noted the eradication of encephalitis and mafia activities, emphasizing the establishment of a conducive environment for growth, security, employment, and harmony. The Chief Minister praised the development of Kushinagar, a region associated with historical figures like Lord Ram’s son Kush, Lord Buddha, and Lord Mahavir, which has progressed significantly in recent years.
