The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has reached out to the Indian Prime Minister regarding the controversial cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination. FORDA has put forth a five-point demand, calling for severe punishment for all involved individuals, including paper setters, printing agency officials, and coaching institute operators.
FORDA has emphasized the need for these individuals to face non-bailable charges and asset forfeiture. Additionally, the association has requested the establishment of a specialized fast-track court to handle examination fraud cases within a three-month timeframe. They have also advocated for the implementation of a strict central law treating examination paper leaks as a serious offense with mandatory minimum sentences to ensure justice.
Furthermore, FORDA has urged the transition of NEET-UG to a secure computer-based testing model similar to IIT-JEE, citing vulnerabilities in the current pen-and-paper format. The association has also called for a prompt re-examination under the supervision of the Supreme Court of India, with transparent procedures and stringent security measures to protect the academic future of students.
In an official communication dated May 13, 2026, FORDA expressed deep concern over the systemic failures that have jeopardized the national medical entrance process. They highlighted the impact of the recent paper leak on nearly 23 lakh aspiring medical students and their families, who have invested significant time and resources in preparation.
FORDA emphasized that the response to such leaks has been reactive rather than preventive, allowing a culture of examination fraud to thrive. They underscored the substantial human and financial costs borne by families, especially those from economically weaker backgrounds, due to the disruption caused by the exam cancellation.
