The Election Commission has released the final electoral roll for Goa, confirming 10,57,566 eligible voters after a thorough verification process. Initially, there were 11,85,034 voters, with 5,73,853 males and 6,11,168 females. Following verification, 1,00,042 voters were removed due to reasons like death, migration, and duplication.
To ensure accuracy, enumeration forms were distributed to all citizens, with 10,84,992 forms returned, representing a 91.56% response rate. Among the removed voters, 25,574 were deceased, 29,729 were untraceable, and around 40,000 had relocated. The final list included 10,84,992 voters, with technical mapping aiding in the verification process.
The Election Commission’s IT system identified discrepancies for about 59,000 voters in the mapped group, which were rectified under various categories. The final electoral roll is now available for public inspection at polling stations and electoral offices. In recent elections, the BJP retained power in Goa’s Assembly polls, while the Lok Sabha elections reflected a competitive two-party scenario.
