Patna, July 29 (IANS) The controversy surrounding the death of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, who was killed in a police encounter on June 17 in Bilauti village under the Shahpur police station area of Bhojpur district, has taken a fresh turn after his family alleged they were receiving threats on social media. The deceased man’s mother, Asha Devi, has lodged an FIR at Shahpur police station, alleging that she has been continuously threatened online.

Two residents of Bilauti village have been named as accused in the complaint by Bharat Bhushan Tiwari’s mother.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly used abusive language, made objectionable remarks, and attempted to defame members of the family through social media posts.

Based on the allegations, police have invoked relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.

According to local sources, differences have surfaced among individuals associated with the movement seeking justice for Bharat Bhushan Tiwari.

The disagreement reportedly intensified after members of the deceased man’s family met senior BJP leaders in Patna, including Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, MP Manoj Tiwari, and BJP MLC Pawan Singh, to seek justice.

Following these meetings, rival groups allegedly exchanged accusations on social media, with some posts reportedly targeting members of the victim’s family.

The dispute further escalated after Anshu Tiwari, a cousin of the deceased, was allegedly assaulted in Bilauti village.

A video purportedly showing the altercation has also circulated on social media.

Police said a local youth has been accused in connection with the alleged assault on Anshu Tiwari.

Officials stated that further legal action will be taken after receiving a formal complaint.

Anshu Tiwari is reportedly coordinating with witnesses on behalf of the victim’s family in the encounter case.

Police said investigations into both the alleged online threats and the assault are underway and emphasised that action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the enquiry.
