The logo, theme song, and mascot for the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) were revealed at the Late B. R. Yadav Sports Stadium in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Scheduled for February 14, 2026, the event saw the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao as Chief Guests, along with officials from various sports bodies. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the importance of tapping into talent from tribal areas to enhance the country’s athlete base.
The KITG 2026 will be jointly managed by several sports organizations, ensuring technical standards aligned with international competitions. The official mascot ‘Morveer’ was introduced during the ceremony, symbolizing courage and pride within India’s tribal communities. The games will feature seven competitive sports disciplines and two demonstration sports, showcasing indigenous sporting traditions.
One of the primary goals of the Khelo India Tribal Games is talent identification, with promising athletes becoming eligible for scholarships and long-term support. Chhattisgarh’s hosting of this national event exclusively for tribal athletes signifies a significant step towards tribal empowerment and inclusion in India’s sports landscape. The Khelo India Tribal Games is part of a larger initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to promote mass participation and sporting excellence.
