Fitness enthusiasts across India participated in the 61st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle (SOC) at nearly 1000 locations, from the capital city to Dehradun and various districts. Launched in 2019, the Fit India Movement aims to integrate fitness into daily life, promoting behavioral changes and an active lifestyle. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduced Fit India Sundays on Cycle last year to encourage cycling for fitness and address issues like obesity and pollution.
Over the past year, the program has expanded to remote areas, becoming a People’s Movement led by citizens, with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. In Delhi, the event was moved to Najafgarh to boost participation, attracting residents for a unique fitness experience. Participants, including all age groups, found the event not only about fitness but also a community bonding exercise.
The 61st SOC event in Dehradun saw a vibrant celebration of fitness, culture, and community spirit. More than 1000 cyclists rode through the scenic Parade Ground, enjoying the picturesque routes and the city’s natural beauty. Dignitaries, including former Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and sports officials, attended the event, showcasing strong institutional support for the fitness movement.
Athletes like Nupur Sheoran, Yogita Bali, and Manish Singh Rawat, along with fitness influencers, engaged with participants, emphasizing the importance of fitness as a lifelong commitment. The event featured various fitness activities beyond cycling, including yoga, Zumba, rope skipping, and martial arts, catering to people of all ages. Fit India Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a people’s movement promoting health, community spirit, and the joy of movement.
