At least five individuals lost their lives, and 24 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus fell into a ravine near Talagang in Pakistan’s Punjab. The tragic incident occurred around 2:15 am local time on Wednesday, as reported by Rescue 1122.

According to Chakwal Rescue 1122 spokesperson Qazi Muhammad Akram, the bus was en route from Rawalpindi to Bahawalpur, with the driver opting for an alternate path due to fog-related closure of the motorway. Tragically, the driver lost control near Dhoke Pathan village along the Sowaan River, causing the bus to plummet into a 100-foot-deep ravine. Five passengers, including the driver, perished on the spot, while 24 others sustained injuries.

In a separate incident on December 31, 2025, a collision between a bus and a van on the Jhang-Faisalabad road in Punjab resulted in the death of over 14 passengers and injuries to 16 others. The death toll later climbed to 17 as additional victims succumbed to their injuries.

Another tragic event in November last year saw three officers of the National Highways and Motorway Police lose their lives in a collision with a passenger bus near Uch Sharif in Punjab. The officers, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Mushtaq, Assistant Sub-Inspector Nasir Abbas, and Constable Osama Ali Gujar, were on duty when the bus heading from Karachi to Peshawar collided with their patrol vehicle, leading to their untimely demise.
