High-speed accidents claimed the lives of five individuals, including a teenager, in Bihar’s Khagaria district. The incidents, involving three separate road accidents in different police station areas, resulted in motorcycle riders and pillion passengers being fatally crushed by speeding vehicles. The first accident occurred at Kumhar Chakki under the Mufassil Police Station area, where a collision between a Magic van and a speeding truck led to the immediate deaths of two youths, identified as Dheeraj Kumar (30) and Sanjeev Kumar (28) from Begusarai.
Following the accidents, locals expressed their anger by blocking National Highway 31 near Kumhar Chakki and Chaidha, causing a disruption in traffic flow for almost an hour and leading to long queues of vehicles. The blockade was eventually cleared after police intervention and assurances, allowing traffic to resume its normal movement. In another incident near Chaidha Durga Temple in the Maheshkhunta Police Station area, a speeding Scorpio SUV collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the instantaneous deaths of both riders, Shivam Kumar (16) and Golu Kumar (18) from Mansi block, who were on their way back from the Maheshkhunta market.
The third fatal accident occurred near Sapaha, also under Maheshkhunta police limits, where a motorcycle rider, Amresh Singh (30), lost his life after being crushed by a speeding truck. These tragic events have left families in grief and have triggered public outrage in the district. Police have initiated investigations into all three cases and are working to identify and locate the drivers responsible for the accidents. Three separate FIRs for rash and negligent driving have been filed at Mufassil and Maheshkhunta police stations under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, highlighting the pressing issues of overspeeding and road safety in the district.
