Floodwaters in Assam have affected 11 districts, impacting more than 7.21 lakh individuals, with the death toll from the floods reaching six. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported that districts like Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup, and others are among the worst-hit areas. In total, 37 revenue circles and 883 villages have been impacted, leading to the submergence of 25,375.44 hectares of crop area.
Sivasagar district is facing the most severe consequences, with 3,75,682 people affected, followed by Charaideo and Jorhat. The flood-related deaths reported so far include four in Sivasagar and two in Charaideo, with no missing persons in the latest bulletin. Urban flooding has also affected districts like Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, and Dibrugarh, disrupting normal life in low-lying areas.
Relief efforts are ongoing, with 103 relief camps and 255 distribution centers operational across the affected districts. More than 24,000 individuals are currently in relief camps, and over 2.39 lakh people have received assistance. Rescue operations involving various response forces and volunteers are active in the worst-hit areas, with 4,455 people evacuated by boats. Authorities are on high alert as several rivers are flowing above the danger level, posing a continuous threat to the affected regions.
