Hyderabad city police, in collaboration with Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), apprehended a foreign drug peddler, Al-Aqar Abdurabu Mohammed Abdurabu, a Yemeni national, and his accomplice, Hasan W. A. Hashem, a Palestinian. The arrest took place within the jurisdiction of Rajendra Nagar Police Station. The authorities confiscated 150 grams of MDMA, a knife, and four mobile phones valued at Rs 25 lakh from the suspects.
Abdurabu, aged 37, had a history of involvement in six NDPS Act cases in Hyderabad between 2019 and 2022. He had been evading the law in two cases filed in 2023 and 2026. Hasan Hashem, aged 28, known for creating ludo game content, resided in Bengaluru and had a prior NDPS Act and Foreigners Act case in 2022 in Yelahanka New Town, Bengaluru.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendra Nagar Zone, S. Srinivas, disclosed that Abdurabu, initially a drug user, transitioned into peddling narcotics like MDMA and cocaine. He sourced drugs from a Nigerian supplier via WhatsApp, making online payments for cheaper acquisitions. Hasan aided Abdurabu in procuring and distributing drugs in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, sometimes using dead-drop techniques or direct deliveries to clients for profit.
The investigation unveiled Abdurabu’s entry into India in 2008 on a tourist visa, subsequent stints on student visas, and his involvement in drug trafficking activities. He associated with a Delhi-based supplier through a Palestinian contact, leading to his arrest by Hyderabad police. Abdurabu’s criminal activities were fueled by a desire for a luxurious lifestyle through drug trade earnings.
