Former AIADMK Minister Gomathi Srinivasan, along with several political figures, recently joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in a significant move that saw the induction of around 2,500 leaders and members from various parties. This development comes as TVK’s political influence grows following its success in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where it secured victory by winning 108 seats.
Notable personalities like film director R.V. Udayakumar and actor-politician Mansoor Ali Khan, who were previously associated with AIADMK, also became part of TVK during the induction ceremony. The event, attended by senior party leaders including TVK General Secretary N. Anand and ministers Sengottaiyan, Aadhav Arjuna, and Venkat Ramanan, emphasized providing recognition and opportunities to the new members.
The party welcomed several former legislators and prominent individuals into its fold, such as K.K. Sivasamy, M.G.M. Subramani, Shanthi Ramu, Veerapandian, Venkatesan, E.C. Sekar, Kalaiselvan, and V.G.P. Rajakumar. This influx of leaders from various parties into TVK is seen as a strategic move to expand its influence and organizational strength in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
The recent merging of Jagannath Mishra’s Our People’s Progress Party with TVK, along with the defection of former AIADMK MLAs to the party, further solidifies TVK’s position in the state’s politics. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s government has already started implementing key promises made during the election campaign, such as providing free electricity and a crop loan waiver scheme, demonstrating a proactive approach to governance.
