After former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha, the BJD accused the ruling party of inducting an accused from a chit fund scam instead of fulfilling promises to repay depositors. The BJD spokesperson stated that Biswal’s move to the BJP would not impact their party.
Biswal, who was denied a BJD ticket due to his involvement in the chit fund case and later expelled for indiscipline, has now aligned with the BJP. The BJD criticized the BJP for not fulfilling its pledge to return money to chit fund depositors and instead welcoming an accused leader into its fold.
The BJD leader highlighted the BJP’s failure to honor its commitment to chit fund depositors during the last Assembly election and criticized the party for accepting an accused individual. Biswal, a three-time MLA, officially joined the BJP in the presence of Odisha’s Chief Minister and the state unit President, emphasizing his admiration for the party’s principles and leadership.
