Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MP, Joginipally Santosh Rao, attended a meeting with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the phone tapping incident. He was directed to appear at the Assistant Commissioner of Police’s office at 3 p.m. Santosh Rao, who is the nephew of BRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), visited KCR’s residence in Hyderabad before heading to the ACP’s office.
Santosh Rao is expected to be interrogated by the SIT regarding the appointment of T. Prabhakar Rao as the head of the Special Intelligence Bureau (CIB) during the BRS regime and related matters. The SIT issued a notice under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code, stating that Santosh Rao’s insights are crucial for the investigation.
This case involves alleged phone tapping of various political opponents, businessmen, journalists, and judges during the previous BRS government’s tenure. Santosh Rao is the third high-ranking leader and close relative of KCR to be summoned by the SIT in the past week.
