Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Hooda stated that the Congress plans to lodge a complaint with the Election Commission regarding alleged irregularities in the recent Rajya Sabha elections. Hooda emphasized the need for prompt action by the Election Commission in response to this issue.
Hooda expressed his views to the media, highlighting the close ties between the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the BJP, suggesting that the INLD refrained from voting as it anticipated the Congress’s victory. Despite challenges such as canceled votes and cross-voting, the Congress secured 28 votes, while the BJP-supported Independent candidate received only 16 votes.
Addressing the scarcity of LPG, petrol, and diesel in the country, Hooda criticized the BJP government for imposing higher taxes on fuel compared to the previous Congress administration. He criticized the current reduction in excise duty, which has not translated into relief for the public, leading to a continuous rise in fuel prices.
Hooda raised concerns about the apparent shortages of LPG and questioned the government’s response to the situation. He also criticized the BJP government for the deteriorating law and order situation in Haryana, citing data from the Central Government’s Social Progress Index that ranks Haryana as the most unsafe state in the country.
Demanding a thorough investigation into financial irregularities, including scams worth hundreds of crores in IDFC Bank and Panchkula Municipal Corporation, Hooda called for accountability and strict action against those responsible. He highlighted the need to uncover the culprits behind the significant paddy procurement scam, alleging that high-ranking individuals are involved while lower-level employees are being unfairly targeted.
