Former Himachal Pradesh Congress President, Pratibha Singh, expressed regret for not being able to go to the Rajya Sabha, stating that she could have continued representing Himachal in Parliament. Singh, who is not personally ambitious, highlighted that she had received multiple opportunities from the party, including winning three Lok Sabha tickets from Mandi. Despite supporters urging her to go to the Rajya Sabha, a young party worker was chosen for the seat as per the decision of the Congress high command.

Singh emphasized the importance of giving opportunities to young leaders and expressed confidence that the selected candidate would meet people’s expectations. She dismissed claims of sending wealthy individuals to the Rajya Sabha instead of genuine politicians, labeling them as media speculations. The former Congress President stressed the need for party workers across states to be given positions and responsibilities to strengthen the party.

Regarding the functioning of the party in Himachal Pradesh, Singh advocated for assigning responsibilities to dedicated workers. She highlighted the necessity of forming a practical body comprising diligent party members, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and utilizing the efforts of those who work sincerely for the party’s benefit. Singh expressed disappointment over delays in appointments within the state Congress and urged for swift actions to prepare for upcoming elections.

Singh expressed faith in Vinay Kumar, the new Himachal Pradesh Congress President, stating that the party is pleased with the selection of a young leader who has served as a three-time MLA. She affirmed that there is no lobbying within the Congress and encouraged all party workers to focus on the party’s welfare and the people’s interests.
