India’s up-and-coming fast bowlers received valuable guidance at the BCCI Centre of Excellence from ex-Indian pacer Zaheer Khan during a specialized red-ball camp for the high-performance monitoring group. Khan worked closely with the budding players to enhance their technical skills and emphasized the mental fortitude, discipline, and adaptability crucial for success in Test fast bowling.
The BCCI praised the opportunity for young pacers to learn from Zaheer Khan, one of the finest fast bowlers, during the red-ball bowling camp. The focus was on improving technical skills and gaining insights into the various aspects essential for excelling in the demanding realm of Test cricket.
Sources revealed that a fast-bowling camp led by former pace spearhead Zaheer Khan was set to conclude, aimed at enhancing the skills of targeted pacers from India A and U19 setups. The camp, spanning three days, aimed to assist players already in the national selection radar, providing them with valuable training under Zaheer’s supervision.
The BCCI’s Center of Excellence has been without a full-time fast-bowling coach since Troy Cooley’s tenure ended in December 2025 due to age restrictions. Sunil Joshi, a former India left-arm spinner and selector, currently oversees spin bowling at the CoE. The BCCI recently invited applications for the fast-bowling coach position, with the selection process expected to take one to two months.
