Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda commended Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for allocating increased funds and unveiling significant railway projects in the Union Budget, surpassing immediate national requirements.
In a letter to the Railway Minister, Deve Gowda lauded the announcement of seven new high-speed rail corridors spanning around 4,000 km in the 2026 Budget, emphasizing their role in fostering sustainable transport and economic growth.
Deve Gowda highlighted the importance of extending the Bengaluru-Hyderabad high-speed railway corridor up to Bidar, underscoring the benefits this extension would bring to North Karnataka and Telangana regions.
The former PM also stressed the necessity for enhanced internal connectivity within Karnataka, proposing a high-speed rail corridor linking Bengaluru–Belagavi–Pune–Mumbai to facilitate development and reduce travel times between North and South Karnataka.
An official statement from Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy revealed that the Central government has approved a loan of Rs 150 crore through the National Dairy Development Board for the expansion of the Hassan Mega Dairy, following a request made by Kumaraswamy and JD (S) MLA H.D. Revanna.
