Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has expressed disappointment with the BJP-led state government for not operationalizing Jodhpur’s historic Sumer Library promptly. Gehlot, through his campaign “Intezaar Shastra: Chapter 15,” highlighted that the Congress government had planned to modernize the library with digital amenities and contemporary infrastructure.
Gehlot emphasized that despite the completion of the new library building, constructed at a cost of Rs 7.96 crore, it remains non-functional due to the lack of funds for furniture and finishing touches. He criticized the government for hindering a project that could have benefitted students and youth by withholding the necessary budget for final arrangements.
The delay in opening the Sumer Library, established in 1935, has raised concerns about the government’s commitment to education. Gehlot questioned the BJP government’s reluctance to support education and knowledge, urging them to expedite the pending work to make the facility accessible to the public, especially students and young readers.
Former CM Gehlot’s initiative, ‘Intezar Shastra,’ aims to shed light on the delays in government projects under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s leadership.
