Patna, July 29 (IANS) A dispute over the construction of a boundary wall turned violent near Chandwara village under the Muffasil police station limits in Bihar’s Begusarai district on Wednesday, leaving four people injured after alleged firing between two groups.

According to local residents, an argument over the boundary wall quickly escalated into a clash, during which both sides allegedly exchanged fire.

Eyewitnesses claimed that nearly 20 rounds were fired, triggering panic in the area.

The injured have been identified as Sindhu Kumar, son of Mohan Kumar; Dheeraj, son of Dhanveer; Dhanveer; and Sanoj, son of Ram Ishwar.

All four are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and are reported to be under medical supervision.

Residents alleged that the accused arrived at the spot on 11 motorcycles.

During the confrontation, villagers overpowered two of the alleged attackers and assaulted them before police arrived.

After receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Muffasil Police Station reached the spot and, after considerable effort, rescued the two injured men from the angry mob.

They were subsequently admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Police from Singhaul Police Station also reached the site, and Superintendent of Police Manish visited the area to assess the situation and supervise the investigation.

During the operation, police seized 11 motorcycles allegedly used by those involved in the incident and began questioning local residents as part of the investigation.

Police said all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined and assured that those responsible would be identified and proceeded against in accordance with the law.

A police contingent has been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.

Tension continues to prevail in the area, though authorities said the situation is under close watch.

The police officers are in the process to take the statements of the injured individuals.

Based on their statement and formal complaint, an FIR will be registered against the attackers under the relevant charges, including attempt to murder.
