At least four individuals, including two infants, lost their lives in distinct road accidents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. In Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district, a woman named Nandini (26) and her four-month-old son, Kannayya, were fatally injured in a collision between their car and a parked lorry at Addakula mandal headquarters. The woman’s husband, Prakash Reddy, sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized in Wanaparthy.
The tragic incident involving the family from Kanchiraopalli village occurred while they were en route to the Yadagirigutta temple for a religious visit. Authorities suspect that the car was speeding, leading to the severe impact of the crash that claimed the lives of the woman and her son on the spot. In a separate accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district, a man and his four-month-old daughter perished, while his wife sustained injuries, after their bike was struck by a truck in Madanapelle.
The injured woman was promptly taken to a medical facility for treatment, and law enforcement initiated an inquiry into the incident. Additionally, a bus accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district resulted in 12 individuals sustaining injuries. The mishap involved a private travel bus en route from Chennai to Bhubaneswar in Odisha, which veered off the road and overturned into a drain on National Highway 16 at Nakkapalli. Local residents came to the aid of the passengers, rescuing them and transferring the injured to the government hospital in Nakkapalli.
The authorities suspect that the bus driver may have fallen asleep while driving, causing the accident. Notably, most passengers aboard the bus were from Odisha. Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
