Four individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Bihar’s Madhepura district. The incident occurred early in the morning on National Highway-106, between BN Mandal University and the power grid area, when a speeding truck collided head-on with a car.

The car sustained significant damage in the collision, leading to the fatal injuries of all four occupants. Upon notification, local residents promptly informed the Sadar police station and ambulance services for assistance.

Authorities arrived at the scene and, with the help of locals, extricated individuals from the wrecked car. The injured victims were swiftly transported to Sadar Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced them deceased.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, with two of the deceased identified as Sonu Kumar and Sahil Raj. Efforts are underway by the police to establish the identities of the other two victims.

According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Madhepura Sadar Police Station, the truck driver absconded following the accident. Both the truck and the damaged car have been confiscated, and a search operation has been initiated to locate the driver.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident may have been caused by over-speeding and reckless driving. Authorities have assured that a thorough inquiry is in progress, and stringent measures will be taken against those accountable.

The tragic event has underscored the escalating concerns regarding road safety in Bihar, particularly on national highways, where speeding-related accidents have been on the rise. Calls for enhanced enforcement of traffic regulations, improved speed monitoring, and better road signage to avert such fatal incidents in the future have been voiced by locals and social organizations.
