At least four individuals lost their lives, and more than seven sustained critical injuries in a tragic accident in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on the Indore-Nemawar Road between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. The victims, who were returning from a wedding in Dewas district, collided with a truck while traveling in a multi-utility vehicle (MUV).
Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that the collision resulted from the overspeeding of the MUV, which crashed into the rear of a truck carrying fodder. The impact of the crash led to the immediate death of three occupants, with one critically injured person succumbing to injuries during hospital treatment. The authorities highlighted that overspeeding and sudden braking were the primary causes of the accident.
The tragic incident unfolded as the truck driver attempted to overtake another vehicle but had to brake upon noticing an oncoming vehicle. The speeding MUV, unable to stop in time, collided with the rear of the truck, leading to the fatal outcome. The collision involved a Qualis car (registration no. MP35-D-0363) crashing into an Eicher truck (registration no. MP41-GA-0949), resulting in severe damage to the car.
The deceased individuals were identified as Irfan (24), Aris (20), Farhan (19), and Arfad (23). Following the accident, law enforcement promptly responded to the scene, transporting the injured to MY Hospital for medical care. The truck driver has been apprehended and is currently undergoing interrogation. Subsequently, family members of the deceased staged a protest in front of Khudel police station, which was later resolved by the authorities.
