Apprehensions of fresh tension arise in Baruipur, West Bengal, following the discovery of a 12-year-old girl’s body, allegedly raped and murdered. Prohibitory orders have been enforced in three police station areas to prevent gatherings of five or more people.
A significant police presence is maintained in the region to avert potential unrest. The situation escalated on Sunday after the girl’s body was found in a pond, leading to local protests and alleged violence against a suspected perpetrator.
Authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident, resulting in two arrests and three detentions for questioning. Amidst public outcry, concerns have been raised over the response of local Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh, who has faced criticism for her handling of the situation.
