New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS) Several Food Business Operators (FBOs) have taken corrective measures following notices issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) over misleading claims, non-standardised products and labelling violations, it was announced on Sunday.

“Following Notices from FSSAI, major Food Business Operators (FBOs) have taken prompt corrective actions. Measures range from withdrawing misleading label claims to revising product packaging to ensure consumer safety and compliance,” the regulator said.

According to FSSAI posts on social media platform X, Honest Innovations For You Private Limited and Heliostone Specialities Private Limited took corrective action after being found using a misleading trademark. The companies changed the name following the FSSAI notice.

Rajasthan Agro and General Industries was also found using a misleading trademark. The FBO complied with the notice by removing or deleting all misleading claims and stopping the use of “ppm” in its product-related communication.

In another case, Iota Nanotechnology Private Limited was flagged for non-standardised products. The company removed the misleading claims from the product label and stopped production of non-standardised water.

Panchamrutha Industries Private Limited was issued a notice concerning an electrolyte drink. Following the notice, the FBO delisted the product from its website.

FSSAI also highlighted the corrective action taken by Livyor Ventures Private Limited over misleading “vegan” and “healthy” claims on the label of its “Livyor Roasted Edamame Beans”.

The company said the claims were inadvertently printed on the product label due to a lack of awareness about applicable regulatory requirements.

The company expressed regret and apologised for the violation, assuring that such non-compliance would not be repeated.

It also submitted a corrected label and stated that it would destroy the existing packaging material carrying the non-compliant claims.

The company has initiated the process of revising its product labels to ensure that the misleading claims are not used in the future.
