Galatasaray winger Noa Lang underwent successful surgery on his injured thumb after a painful incident during the Champions League match against Liverpool. Lang, a 26-year-old Netherlands player, sustained the injury in the 76th minute while chasing the ball and crashing into the advertising hoardings. He was visibly in pain, clutching his right hand due to a deep cut on his thumb.
Players from Liverpool, including Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, rushed to assist Lang as medical staff attended to him on the field. Lang, showing signs of severe discomfort, received oxygen before being stretchered off. After the surgery, Lang shared on social media that the operation went well, thanking everyone for their messages of support.
Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk labeled Lang’s injury as severe, following Liverpool’s 4-1 aggregate victory. The Turkish club also updated on Victor Osimhen, who suffered a right forearm fracture during the match after a challenge with Ibrahima Konate. Despite the injury, Osimhen played until halftime before being substituted.
Galatasaray has been eliminated from the Champions League, while Liverpool, six-time champions, will face Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the quarter-finals. The first leg will be at Parc des Princes in Paris on April 9, with the return leg at Anfield on April 15.
