Gandhinagar is all set to have a new campus for the Indian Institute of Teachers Education (IITE), as the Gujarat government has approved a Rs 127 crore project. This project will encompass academic facilities, research infrastructure, and a hostel to accommodate over 600 students. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel initiated the groundbreaking ceremony for this new campus, which is part of the state university established in 2010 under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The new campus in Gandhinagar will feature an academic building, faculty facilities, advanced classrooms, science labs, seminar rooms, a modern library, a museum, and sports amenities. Additionally, a modern hostel will be built to house more than 600 male and female students. Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja, along with Ministers of State Trikam Chhanga and Rivaba Jadeja, attended the event where the new campus was announced.
Vaja emphasized that the project signifies more than just constructing a new building. He highlighted that it marks the beginning of a new era in producing exceptional teachers who will contribute significantly to shaping India’s future. The aim is to not only prepare teachers but also educators capable of playing a pivotal role globally and enhancing educational systems beyond India’s borders.
The approved Rs 127 crore funding will be utilized to develop new academic and faculty buildings, laboratories, seminar halls, a library, museum, sports facilities, and the student hostel. Vaja mentioned that Gujarat has been at the forefront of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on multidisciplinary education, research, innovation, and skill-based learning. IITE is evolving into a multidisciplinary university in alignment with these objectives.
