Gauhati University’s Initiative for Competitive Examinations (GUICE) has proven successful, with 13 candidates clearing the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024. The university offered a free interview-preparation program under GUICE for candidates who reached the final stage of the state civil services exam.
The GUICE program focused on mock interviews, personality development, and practical orientation for the viva voce. Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta expressed satisfaction with the program’s outcome, highlighting the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence beyond traditional teaching methods.
Launched in 2024, GUICE has reshaped Gauhati University’s Pre-Examination Training Cell (PETC) to provide specialized coaching for civil services and other competitive exams. The program includes long-term subject preparation combined with targeted interview coaching to enhance candidates’ readiness.
Former APSC Chairman Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury oversaw a special interview-practice program for candidates from the 2024–25 batch who qualified for the mains examination. GUICE offers two distinct streams: a core subjects coaching module and a specialized interview-preparation module to boost candidates’ confidence and clarity through mock sessions.
