Karnataka Police discovered two gelatin sticks close to the Art of Living Ashram in Bengaluru’s Kaggalipura-Tataguni area just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit. The gelatin sticks were spotted about one-and-a-half hours before the Prime Minister’s event in the vicinity. A constable on duty noticed a suspicious packet near a compound wall, approximately one kilometer from the NICE Road junction. Upon examination, the packet was confirmed to contain two gelatin sticks, prompting immediate police action to secure the area and prevent any potential incident.
Following the discovery, Bengaluru City Police and Ramanagara Police launched a joint investigation into the incident. Central Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Girish mentioned that an intensive inquiry was ongoing to determine how the gelatin sticks ended up at the location and who was responsible for placing them there. The DIG praised the Anti-Sabotage Team and local police for their swift action in locating the gelatin sticks away from the main road used by the Prime Minister. He emphasized that further details would emerge as the investigation progressed, focusing on identifying the individuals behind the placement of the gelatin sticks.
The recovery of gelatin sticks before the Prime Minister’s visit sparked political reactions, with the Bharatiya Janata Party expressing serious security concerns. Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra raised alarm over the incident, labeling it as a significant security lapse on the designated route for the Prime Minister’s movement. In a social media post, Vijayendra criticized the Congress-led state government for failing to uphold law and order in Karnataka, particularly in Bengaluru. He stressed the importance of maintaining top-notch security for the Prime Minister and called for a thorough investigation to hold accountable those responsible for the gelatin sticks’ placement.
PM Modi’s visit to Bengaluru on Sunday was part of his official engagements.
