General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the Headquarters Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa Area in Mumbai to assess operational logistics, training architecture, and administrative readiness. The focus was on ensuring robust rear area security, integrated logistics, and seamless Military-Civil fusion for sustained operations in changing scenarios. The Army Chief recognized the professionalism and commitment of all ranks, emphasizing the significance of cohesive command and strong support systems for operational excellence and troop welfare.

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, marked the 250th Raising Day of the 16th Light Cavalry, the oldest armoured regiment of the Indian Army established in 1922. He urged the personnel to maintain exceptional professionalism, operational agility, and technological advancement to meet evolving threats while upholding the regiment’s traditions of valor, discipline, and duty to the nation. The visit included paying tribute to the Regiment’s fallen soldiers at the War Memorial and reviewing the Mounted Parade.

The 16th Light Cavalry, known for its combat prowess, has a rich history of achievements including the capture of Gadgor in 1965, the armoured thrust through the Shakargarh Bulge in 1971, and participation in Kargil during Operation Vijay in 1999. The regiment’s legacy reflects pride, discipline, and operational excellence, standing as a symbol of regimental honor and professionalism in the Indian Army.
