US-based tech giant Alphabet Inc’s Google Search encountered a worldwide outage on Tuesday morning, affecting users in India, the US, and other regions. Many users trying to use the search engine received a message stating, “We are sorry, but it appears that there has been an internal server error while processing your request. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue. Please try again later.”
The outage led to a significant increase in user complaints on online outage-tracking platforms and social media, with numerous reports emerging from India alone in a short period. The problem was identified as a ‘500 Internal Server Error,’ typically indicating a server-side issue rather than a problem with users’ devices or internet connections.
This error commonly arises when there are technical disruptions in the backend infrastructure, causing a breakdown in communication between a user’s browser and the company’s servers. Additionally, many users mentioned that they faced difficulties in conducting searches or accessing results intermittently during the outage.
Previously, various technology platforms, including AI services, have also faced outages. In March, China’s prominent AI chatbot DeepSeek encountered a major disruption, remaining offline for over seven hours. Similarly, Instagram users reported widespread issues in the same month, particularly concerning inaccessible direct messages (DMs) and missing chat themes. Users expressed frustrations on Instagram’s subreddit and other social media platforms about the inability to use the search feature or view contacts.
In February, YouTube experienced a global outage as well. The platform later confirmed that services had been restored, with TeamYouTube announcing on X that the issue had been resolved across the platform.
