A workshop in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, emphasized the joint efforts of government institutions and social organizations in enhancing child rights protection, especially at the implementation level. Gujarat’s Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya praised the cooperation between the government and social groups in child protection, highlighting the collective responsibility of nurturing and safeguarding children. The workshop, themed ‘Child Rights: Issues and Challenges,’ was organized by the Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.
Representatives from voluntary organizations, civil society groups, and NGOs came together at the Forest Training Centre in Gandhinagar for a workshop-cum-training program. Subject experts conducted detailed sessions on child rights and associated challenges during the event. Minister Bavaliya reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that welfare schemes reached children from all societal segments, including those from laborer families and vulnerable backgrounds.
He emphasized the importance of addressing the educational and healthcare needs of children found at construction sites and roadside locations promptly. The Minister highlighted digital initiatives like the ‘Shram Setu Portal’ and the ‘Shramik Sahayak Call Centre,’ introduced to provide swift support and grievance redressal for workers and their families. Minister Bavaliya stressed the necessity of sustained awareness to tackle social issues such as child marriage and commended the efforts of the Child Rights Commission in spreading awareness about child protection at the district level.
