The government dedicated the 200 MW solar module manufacturing line of Central Electronics Limited (CEL) to the nation, showcasing India’s expanding capabilities in non-fossil energy sectors like solar, wind, nuclear, and ocean-based energy systems. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, highlighted the crucial role of renewable and clean energy in India’s growth journey under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. PM Modi has set a national target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
Dr Singh emphasized the unique utility and significance of each renewable energy source, underscoring India’s holistic approach towards clean energy expansion and sustainable development. The operationalization of the 200 MW Solar Module Manufacturing Line marks a significant milestone in India’s clean energy landscape, showcasing the nation’s confidence in indigenous manufacturing and renewable energy growth. Recalling CEL’s historic contributions to India’s renewable energy sector, Dr Singh praised the organization’s transformation from a struggling institution to a profitable Mini Ratna enterprise, attributing the success to strong leadership, policy backing, operational efficiency, and collective efforts of stakeholders.
The minister highlighted the swift progress of the project, noting that the Request for Proposal was floated on April 24, 2025, the bidder was selected within a month, and the manufacturing facility became operational in less than a year. CEL is now venturing into forward-looking sectors such as vertical axis wind turbines, hybrid renewable systems, data centers, advanced defense electronics, electronic warfare, and small weapon systems, reflecting India’s technological advancement and strategic readiness.
