A shocking incident has been uncovered at a Scheduled Caste Residential Girls’ School in Jharkhand’s Chatra district. A 14-year-old student, residing in the school hostel and studying in Class 3, was found to be pregnant during a medical examination. Allegations suggest that the school’s headmaster himself assaulted the student, sparking anger and fear in the school and the district.
As news of the incident spread, the victim’s family protested at the school, citing security negligence by the management. Responding swiftly, the police arrested the accused headmaster due to the gravity of the situation. Hunterganj Police Station in-charge Prabhat Kumar intervened to calm the agitated villagers and oversaw the questioning of the student and the accused at the police station.
In response to the case’s sensitivity, Chatra Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Shree took immediate action by deploying a team of officials to record the student’s statement. A high-level inquiry committee has been set up by DC Keerthi Shree to conduct a thorough investigation. Local public representatives, including Zila Parishad Chairperson Mamta Kumari, have demanded justice and the harshest punishment for the guilty party.
The accused headmaster, Shankar Prasad, has been arrested by the police, and efforts are underway to place him in judicial custody. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving necessary medical care and counseling support.
