Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has requested Central assistance for ongoing rescue and relief operations in parts of the state, especially South Gujarat, affected by heavy rainfall. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured the state of full support. Patel discussed the rain situation and relief measures with Shah over the phone.

Earlier, Patel visited the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar to assess the impact of heavy rainfall and oversee the coordinated response in affected districts. He also communicated with officials to evaluate the situation and progress of rescue operations. Additional teams of the National Disaster Response Force will be deployed if needed.

The Chief Minister instructed officials in Surat and Navsari districts to relocate residents from flood-prone areas to safer places, prioritizing public safety. The review meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre was attended by Chief Secretary M. K. Das and senior secretaries. Heavy monsoon rains continue to disrupt transport and prompt precautionary measures in South Gujarat.

In Dang district, 47 roads were closed due to heavy rain, with one obstruction cleared later. Juj and Keliya dams in Navsari district overflowed, leading to warnings of increased river flows downstream. Rescue operations were conducted in Tapi district, rescuing 11 individuals. Surat district declared a holiday for schools and centers due to heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department forecasts continued heavy rainfall in parts of South and central Gujarat.
