The Gujarat Congress has announced a ‘Jan Aakrosh Sabha’ in Gandhinagar on February 16, coinciding with the start of the state’s Budget Session. The event aims to address the grievances of various societal segments. Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Chavda highlighted that the public meeting, scheduled for 1 pm, will focus on issues concerning youth, farmers, women, tribals, Dalits, the Bakshipanch community, workers, small traders, and street vendors.
Chavda emphasized the party’s intention to voice the anger, pain, and challenges faced by the people of Gujarat during the Budget Session. He criticized the ruling government, alleging a failure to tackle critical issues. According to Chavda, the “double-engine government” has led to increased inflation in Delhi and unchecked corruption in Gujarat.
The Congress party previously conducted outreach initiatives, including extensive yatras to address various concerns. These efforts included the Kisan Aakrosh Yatra, Jan Aakrosh Yatra, and other yatras covering different regions of Gujarat. Grievances such as the demand for a complete farm loan waiver, fertiliser shortages, power company issues, and unjust land acquisition practices were raised during these tours.
Chavda further mentioned the exploitation of young individuals under different employment systems and reiterated the party’s call for fair wages. Concerns raised by women regarding the impact of alcohol and the presence of drug peddlers near educational institutions were also highlighted. The party plans to address issues related to evictions, forest land rights for tribals, and the welfare of anganwadi, ASHA workers, and MGNREGA laborers in the upcoming session.
