Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi met with senior BJP leaders in Rohtak, Haryana, to discuss organizational arrangements for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. During his visit, Sanghavi interacted with various party officials at the BJP’s state office in Rohtak. Notable attendees at the meeting included Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, state BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and other government and party representatives.
The discussions primarily focused on organizational aspects concerning the impending Rajya Sabha polls. Leaders reviewed party coordination and the necessary preparations for the election process. The gathering also provided a platform for leaders to share perspectives on election strategies and associated responsibilities.
Following his appointment as a central observer by the BJP for the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections, Sanghavi’s visit to Haryana was significant. The BJP also designated observers for other states with scheduled Rajya Sabha elections. For instance, Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vijay Sharma and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra were appointed as observers for Bihar, while Maharashtra government minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule will oversee the process in Odisha.
The Election Commission has set March 16 as the date for the Rajya Sabha biennial elections, which will take place across multiple states where members’ terms are ending in April. These elections will determine new representatives to the Upper House from states like Bihar, Haryana, Odisha, Assam, among others. The BJP’s appointment of observers forms part of its groundwork for the upcoming polls, aiming to fill vacant Rajya Sabha seats as current members complete their terms next month.
