The Gujarat government is expediting projects to enhance water supply infrastructure in cities, aiming to provide clean drinking water and improve civic amenities. Urban water resources have seen a boost of 92.97 MLD, with an expansion of transmission systems by 528.35 KM in 2025, as per official statements. Daily water supply has been secured in 103 cities, with ongoing major projects in over 30 towns to ensure uninterrupted water availability.
Under the ‘Mission Daily Water Supply’, the state government is committed to delivering potable water to all urban areas. It is actively supporting urban local bodies in executing water supply and sanitation initiatives. Designating 2025 as the ‘Urban Development Year’, the Bhupendra Patel government is dedicated to advancing infrastructure in cities to global standards.
In addition to established water supply networks in 100+ cities, significant efforts are underway in 32 urban areas under the same mission. The implementation of the SCADA system in key cities allows for digital monitoring of water distribution and related services, aiding in leak detection, pressure optimization, and operational efficiency. This has led to a reduction in non-revenue water losses and improved real-time monitoring capabilities.
The consistent availability of daily drinking water has minimized reliance on long-term storage and alternative water sources for residents. Through systematic urban development, the administration is focused on enhancing the quality of life for urban dwellers.
