The Gujarat government conducted a significant administrative overhaul by reshuffling 72 IAS officers across various districts, municipal corporations, and state departments. This reshuffle involved changes in collectorates in districts like Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, and others, as well as appointments in Gandhinagar and urban development bodies.
Among the notable changes, Sujeet Kumar, the Ahmedabad Collector, is now the Special Commissioner of State Tax, while Bhavya Verma, the former Valsad Collector, has been appointed as the new Collector of Ahmedabad.
Dr. Sourabh Pardhi, the Surat Collector, has been reassigned as the Director of Civil Supplies in Gandhinagar, and Tejas Parmar, the ex-Municipal Commissioner of Junagadh, is now the Surat Collector.
In another significant move, D.N. Modi has been designated as the Development Commissioner in Gandhinagar after his tenure in the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation. Anand Patel, the former Kutch-Bhuj Collector, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Schools in Gandhinagar with additional responsibilities related to PM-POSHAN and the Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training.
Ajay Prakash has transitioned from the Gujarat Energy Development Agency to the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited as Managing Director, while Gaurang Makwana has moved from the Bharuch Collectorate to the Climate Change Department with added responsibilities over state power sector entities.
The reshuffling also involved the interchange of officers between collectorates and civic bodies at the district and municipal levels, affecting areas like Junagadh, Morbi, Navsari, Vapi, and others. Notable changes were seen in Gandhinagar across various departments, including industries, urban development, tribal development, civil supplies, and energy.
Additionally, officers have been assigned extra duties in institutions like Gujarat Informatics Limited, Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited, and Gujarat Urban Development authorities.
The notification also detailed extensive reshuffling of district development officers and assistant collectors, with many being reassigned as project administrators in Tribal Area Sub Plan regions or to urban local bodies such as the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Vadodara Municipal Corporation. This 72-post reshuffle covers a wide range of governance functions, including revenue administration, infrastructure development, urban management, and welfare delivery, making it one of the most comprehensive administrative reallocations in recent times in the state.
