The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has announced the extension of metro train services in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on specific dates to facilitate travel during the IPL 2026 day-night matches at Narendra Modi Stadium. Metro services will run beyond regular hours on April 4, April 17, April 20, April 26, April 30, May 3, and May 12, operating until 12:30 a.m. to accommodate spectators attending the matches.
During these match days, additional late-night services will be introduced after 10 p.m., with trains running from various stations to cater to the increased demand. Passengers will be able to board trains only from specific stations for their return journeys, with a special paper ticket priced at Rs 50 per person for travel during extended hours.
To manage the expected increase in passengers, GMRC has introduced special paper tickets for return journeys on match days, priced at a flat rate of Rs 50 per person. These tickets will be valid for travel between specific stations during extended hours. Regular ticketing options will only be valid until 10 p.m. on match days, after which entry at certain stations will require the special paper ticket.
As Ahmedabad gears up to host IPL fixtures, the Narendra Modi Stadium is set to witness high-profile matches, starting with Gujarat Titans versus Rajasthan Royals on April 4. The stadium, known for hosting significant IPL fixtures in the past, is expected to attract large crowds during the ongoing tournament.
