Gujarat Police Officers to Receive Prestigious Medals on Republic Day

The Union Home Ministry announced that 16 officers and personnel of the Gujarat Police Force will be honored with police service medals on Republic Day. The awards, to be presented by President Droupadi Murmu, include the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service for two senior officers from the Gujarat cadre of the Indian Police Service.

The remaining 14 awardees will be conferred with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service for their dedicated public duty contributions. Notably, Nipuna Torawane, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, and S. S. Raghuvanshi, IPS, are among the recipients of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service for their outstanding service record and leadership.

The recipients of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service come from various units within the Gujarat Police, such as the Intelligence Wing, State Monitoring Cell, Prisons Department, and more. These awardees, ranging from senior officers to constables, have excelled in areas like counter-terrorism, intelligence operations, and disaster management, showcasing their commitment to public service.

DGP Dr. K. L. N. Rao commended all the medal recipients, emphasizing that the awards reflect the professionalism and dedication of the Gujarat Police Force. The announcement is seen as a motivation for personnel to continue serving the public with integrity and commitment, as acknowledged by the Gujarat Home Department.
