Gujarat health authorities have placed four individuals, including a businessman recently arrived from Africa, under quarantine as a precautionary step due to heightened monitoring of Ebola outbreaks in Uganda and Congo. The businessman, identified as Amori Lokola, traveled to Vadodara after arriving in Mumbai five to seven days ago. Upon developing a fever, he was admitted to Banker Hospital and later transferred to an Ebola isolation ward at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya mentioned that the World Health Organization has issued specific guidelines in light of reported cases in African countries. Two others who traveled with Lokola, Patrick Kaja and Valentin Jodel, have also been isolated at SVP Hospital in Ahmedabad. Additionally, a doctor in contact with them, Dr. Sunil Musana, is under quarantine as a precautionary measure. Blood samples have been sent to Pune for testing, and the patients will remain quarantined for 10 to 11 days.
Minister Pansheriya emphasized that there have been no confirmed Ebola cases in Gujarat or India and that the current measures are purely preventive. He assured that the patients are stable and receiving medical care. Gujarat has set up isolation facilities at various hospitals and intensified screening at the airport for passengers arriving from affected countries. The Minister urged against spreading rumors and advised seeking medical help from authorized healthcare facilities if symptoms arise.
