Gujarat’s Universal Immunisation Programme saw more than 11.30 lakh infants and over 24 lakh children vaccinated during 2025–26. The drive covered infants, schoolchildren, and pregnant women through routine services and targeted campaigns across the state.
Between April 2025 and February 2026, over 11.30 lakh infants received full immunisation coverage. Additionally, more than 11.94 lakh children were given the BCG vaccine, while others received vaccines for diseases like diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type B, measles, and rubella.
Vaccination efforts extended to schools and children’s gardens, where students aged 10 to 16 years and five-year-olds were vaccinated, respectively. In total, over 24 lakh children were immunised under these categories in the past year.
To maintain its polio-free status since 2007, Gujarat conducted a special campaign in 2025, administering polio drops to 24.65 lakh children aged up to five years. The state also reached remote areas through initiatives like “Tika Express” and “Mobile Mamta Day” to provide vaccines and maternal health services.
During the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” fortnight in 2025, a special vaccination campaign focused on maternal and child health, immunising over 3.58 lakh children and 1.24 lakh pregnant women. The state is set to launch a measles-rubella elimination campaign on National Immunisation Day.
Utilizing real-time data, Gujarat identified high-risk areas for vaccination coverage, targeting children aged nine months to 10 years. The state has also initiated a human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for adolescent girls to prevent cervical cancer.
Health authorities ensure safety protocols during vaccinations, providing the HPV vaccine free of charge to eligible beneficiaries and monitoring recipients post-administration.
