The e-Nagar portal in Gujarat witnessed over 18 lakh transactions in 2025-26, generating revenue of Rs 1,031 crore. This reflects the increasing use of a unified digital platform for urban civic services in the state. Developed under the Gujarat Urban Development Mission, the portal has facilitated more than 1.24 crore transactions, with total revenue surpassing Rs 6,076 crore, showcasing widespread adoption by citizens in urban areas.
The initiative is part of the broader digital governance drive initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the Digital India mission. Officials highlighted that in Gujarat, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, digital transformation and citizen-centric governance are advancing significantly. The e-Nagar portal consolidates various municipal services onto a single platform, enabling citizens to access services like complaint registration, shop license applications, marriage registration, and more, all online from their homes.
The portal offers round-the-clock access and supports multiple payment methods such as cards, UPI, and net banking. Users can monitor their applications in real time and directly download certificates and receipts from the system. Noteworthy technological features include the addition of an AI chatbot for easy information access and integration with ‘Bhashini’ to provide the platform in 23 languages, enhancing accessibility for users from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
Officials emphasized that the system has reduced paperwork, eliminated the need for long queues at municipal offices, and enhanced service delivery speed and transparency. Citizens can now conveniently pay fees, taxes, and charges from anywhere, complete registrations, and obtain certificates online. This initiative has also strengthened the interaction between citizens and the administration. Data from the government revealed that in 2024-25, the portal recorded 26 lakh transactions and generated revenue of Rs 1,522 crore. The e-Nagar project is described as an integrated digital system offering all services to citizens in one place.
