Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini revealed that 480,000 electronic challans were issued for speeding on National Highway 44 from Kundli to Shambhu in the past year. The government has set up 128 advanced cameras along the highway to monitor violations.
During the inauguration of a national seminar on ‘Road Safety Solutions’, CM Saini mentioned the Sanjaya application developed with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to manage road accident data effectively. Efforts are underway to enhance road safety by identifying accident-prone spots, upgrading traffic management systems, running awareness campaigns, and embracing new technologies.
The seminar, attended by over 350 experts and stakeholders, aims to address road safety issues comprehensively. CM Saini emphasized the significance of the event in charting a roadmap for the nation’s safety and development.
He underscored the pivotal role of roads in fostering development and connectivity but also highlighted the persistent challenge of road accidents in society. CM Saini stressed the importance of public adherence to traffic regulations, citing the critical role of small actions like wearing helmets and seat belts in saving lives.
The Chief Minister called for heightened awareness on road safety among students, youth, and all segments of society to mitigate the toll of road accidents and ensure a safer road environment.
